my introduction to the good doctor barefoot, Thu Feb 13 2003

Last summer I took the plunge and booked a yoga & walking holiday on my own in SW France. I was apprehensive as I had very little experience of yoga & a few years ago I ruptured a disc in my back, but La Buissiere promised classic hatha yoga ideally suited for beginners and I'm pleased to say that's exactly what I got! So much so that I never worried about tying myself up in knots!, and I genuinely felt that I was being facilitated to enjoy the experience at my own pace. Add in a couple of guided walking tours, a cycle ride to a local castle, and the region's wine, and you are looking at a blissful, chilled out week where you are free to do your own thing or join in with the actvities (yoga, walking, meals out, and the fiercely competitive boule competitions!) as you feel like it. I took the train down there via Paris (Eurostar from Waterloo, SNCF Paris-Cahors) which if like me, you love long train journeys is perfect. If you want to get there a bit quicker you can, I think fly to Toulouse and take a short trian ride to Cahors.
