A Matter of Health
Dr Raman's work has been inspired by BKS Iyengar. Dr Raman has been practising yoga since he was 14. Under Mr Iyengar's tutelage he learnt about the immense clinical potential of yoga. With an educational background, Dr Raman decided to combine the two sciences of medicine and yoga, to treat his patients with excellent, even amazing results. This book details his philosophies, experiences and achievements in the fusion of an ancient science with a modern one.
Anatomy of Movement
Anatomy of Movement is a dynamic, integrated approach to the study of the physical structures of the musculoskeletal system and their functional relationship to the movements of the human body. In clear and concise text illustrated with more than a thousand graphic drawings, the author takes the reader on a lively tour of the muscles, bones, ligaments and joints of the arms, legs and trunk. The focus throughout the book is on anatomy not for its own sake, but in its functional relationship to the actual movements of the body in dance, exercise and other physidal disciplines.
Anatomy of Movement (Exercises)
Anatomy of Movement: Excercises is the companion volume to the widely-acclamied Anatomy of Movement. Here the authors describe and illustrate through hundreds of drawings and photographs, a comprehensive series of exercises involving the most common movements of the body. The exercises - useful in all physical disciplines and therapies - were chosen on the basis of their effectiveness and harmlessness. Some are designed as a workout for the entire body, while others focus on strengthening a particular student, patient, or dicipline. They also serve as a basis for the more specialized or complex exercises associated with various physical disciplines or therapies. Presentation of the exercises follows the sequencing in Anatomy of Movement: trunk, knee, ankle and foot. For each body region the authours describe characteristic movements; potential sources of stiffness or laxity and how to detect, prevent and overcome them; strengthening of specific muscles and muscle groups; and how to coordinate movements. This is followed by "practice pages" which include specific exercises for assessing the health and strength of the muscles, as well as basic and more specialized exercises that can be performed in the studio or gymnasium, clinic or home.

Understanding Yoga Through Body Knowledge
Yogacharya BKS Iyengar always felt that a correlation must exist between the modern medical science and the art of yoga. This book written at his behest by Dr Sulochana D. Telang is the first attempt of it's kind to establish a link between the yogic and modern medical sciences. It is hoped that not only the students of yoga, but also the modern medical practicioners will find the book useful in their daily practice.
