Teachers Training at the Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre

3 weeks teachers training courses and 3 years teachers training program with Sharat Arora

Teachers Training Courses ? These courses are 4 week intensive courses, designed for students who wish to make the spiritual path of Yoga a way of life and eventually to teach others how to walk this path. The first two weeks follow the same format as the regular intensive courses. The final week focuses on the pedagogical aspects of yoga; including teaching, motivating, correcting, and yoga therapy (diagnosing and treating ailments). Completion of the teacher's training intensive will not certify one to teach yoga, it is only the beginning of a longer program to obtain teaching qualifications.

Teachers Certificate Program ? This program takes 3 years to complete. The student should begin with a teachers training course (see description above). After completing this initial course, the student must keep regular contact with Sharat by doing at least 4 weekly courses and assisting for another 4 weeks per year to gain practical experience. On the third year another teachers training course has to be completed and a creative research paper must be written on each of the following subjects: Anatomy and physiology; Patanjali's Yoga Sutras; Hatha Yoga Pradipaka; Comparison of any 2 religions; Ayurvedic medicine.

sharat is a very heartfull person, who is sharing his knowledge in a clear, understandable way. the most important for me to learn is ,that people , specially those with chronical physical problems , should not just follow what some kind of yoga -teacher is performing in the front, but need a check up before starting and individual guidance during class. thank u sharat for not only beeing my teacher but also friend frank

"Yoga is not about developing flexibility but wisdom." "Yoga is not about fattenig one's ego by displaying how easily one can get into the posture and stay there but is about being aware of the blocks in the muscles, joints and cells in a posture." " Yoga is about self discovery." Those who are serious students of Yoga can work out their way to wisdom with these words of Sharat. These are not words but sums up for me the real work here.
