Courses and Retreats with Sharat Arora in India. The centre operates in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh until the end of June 2003 and from the beginning of September till mid November 2003. The centre in Arambol, Goa operates from mid November 2003 till February 2004. Our centre in Dharamshala - Established in 1985, we have finally built a hall, which has taken us 3 years. In wanting to share the vision of our teacher BKS Iyengar, our new building is of a semicircular design, similar to the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune. In giving particular attention towards the usage of props, the centre has succeeded in incorporating every prop of the Iyengar method, giving a limitless and diverse opportunity for each practitioner to discover a deeper understanding of Hatha Yoga. With the desire to give visitors a feeling of inspiration and devotion, the building concentrates not only on the practical needs of a Yoga hall, but also offers a sense of unique artistic beauty. The land surrounding the building is given as much care and significance as the Yoga hall itself. Being a bare piece of land only 5 years ago, it now gives a home to 150 trees, many varieties of flowers, roses and shrubs, and in wanting to attract as much wildlife as possible, 4 ponds have been introduced into the gardens. At the HIYC we not only want to encourage an awareness of the body, mind and spirit, but also sensitivity and gratitude for our natural environment, which in itself is devotion and respect to the highest principle of nature - Prakruti. We plan to have a library covering all aspects of Yoga and spiritual philosophy. A small children`s school operates during the spring and summer. Accommodation for students is readily available around the centre. The centre aims to create a perfect environment for learning and practicing Yoga as well as other related sciences. Our centre in Arambol, Goa Situated on the banks of a small river and just a stones' throw away from the beach, nestled amongst the coconut groves is our winter centre in Goa. The classes are conducted upon a hard floor shaded by a parachute, with a pleasant cool breeze coming in from the sea.
