Going to India? Can't Post

If you have questions about studying yoga in India, ask them here. Many forum users have been there (at the RIYMI in Pune and at other places), and can share their experience with you.

If you have a nice story about your stay in India, why not share it here with the forum users?

Hi

I don't have an address with me at the moment, but I think I can look it up at home. I'll keep you informed.

Hi

try contacting Mr S N Omkar, who is an Iyengar yoga teacher living in Bangalore. His website is:
http://aero.iisc.ernet.in/~omkar/Omkar.html

There is also a website about another Iyengar yoga center in Bangalore, but there seem to be no address details published:
http://www.geocities.com/prashantyogashraya2000/

I hope this helps.

Re: Going to India? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello all
I am wanting to ask about the prerequisites for going to study Yoga in Pune. Here are a few questions: Do you have to be experienced in Asana's? Does Guruji himself teach in Pune? What are the likely costs involved and are there restrictions in duration of stay?
Thankyou for your help.
Sincerely
Ivan

Re: Going to India? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello!

I would very much like to travel through India, staying at yoga centres along the way. I am interested mainly in those that have massage/treatments available at the centre or nearby.

I haven't a clue where to start, as so many are shown on the web and don't know which are safe or good. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

have you looked at www.iyengaryoga.org

they are beginning to collect info such as that.

i will be in India in June. I am intending to stay at the Chetak. It is very close to the Institute. You can find email for Chetak tusharpune@yahoo.com The web page also listed a couple other hotels close in as well as a couple of apartments. You can stay at a hotel just as a place to work from and find an apartment quite easily after you arrive.

i am also registered to be at the institute in june. i am also looking for a place to stay and for a good deal on airfare. I will be flying from either hartford, ct or boston, ma. I would love any tips someone might have.

also, it might be nice to get from Bombay to Pune together. If any of you making the trip are into trying to meet up in Bombay and travel to PUne together, please reply to this and let me know!

With Warm Regards!

I am going to India in this June, and would love to get in touch with others who are going. My plan is to stay at Hotel Chetak (haven't made reservations yet though) and look for a flat from there.

Any advice or suggestions much appreciated!

Re: Going to India? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello,

I would be grateful if someone could let me have their comments or impressions on studying Iyengar Yoga in the city of Mumbai. Although I have been practising Iyengar yoga for more than 7 years, my teacher in Spain estimates it is still a bit early to apply in Pune, and apart from the long time in advance that is needed to apply I guess the quality of practice should be as good in Mumbai. I intend to stay there from Jan to March 2006. The Yogashraya has sent me a list of around 20 teachers and different hotels so any first hand info would be much appreciated. Thank you
