Beginner Can't Post

I have two questions. I have recently started learning yoga from the book Yoga (Paperback) by Mira Mehta, Shyam Mehta. I use the lessons at the back and have worked my way to 3 rd lesson in last couple of months. I have surprised myself because a lot of times I am able to do poses very close to the ones shown in the book. Basically I am enjoying the whole experience very much.

My first Q is even after 3 months since I have started doing yoga I feel the whole body very stiff. Am I doing something wrong? Is this normal? Should I include some kind of warm up like surya namaskar before I start my lessons?

My second Q is is there any thing recommended for carpal tunnel (special asanas?). I have soreness in fingers and wrists because my job involves lot of typing and mouse use.

Thanks for all responses.

Hello :)
I experienced the same problem because i use computers often for my job; all the pain in my hand and wrist stopped when i replaced the mouse by a wacom tablet.

If you doing yoga in the morning right after the sleeping your body stiffness is normal :) I'm doing surya namaskar several times, until I feel that I completely awake and my body ready to stretch.

Feeling stiff after more than 20 years of daily practice is still good sign of how important constant and correct practice is. Feeling stiff after 3 months is quite normal and congratulations as strengthening muscles can feel still before they get more supple. It is an indication that things will soon get more flexible. Keep practicing. For the wrists practice asanas that will strengthen them like Chaturanda Dandasana, Nakrasana (crocodile) and Bakasana (Crane) if you are up for it.
warm regards
Peter
