The hints in Light on yoga P.422 are really very good. As you practice savasana understand that gently bringing the mind to awareness of the soft position of the tongue, the calm outflow and inflow of breathe, gently letting go of any sense of heaviness where the body contacts the floor (thighs, shoulders, elbows, back of the head, heels) all contribute to a sense of being carefree. The past 20+ years of practice of savasana have suggested that that - a sense of being carefree- has much to do with a true sense of relaxation. After asanas, as the brain/body relationship reestablishes/re-equips itself to a 'normal' stress level suitable for usual daily activity, watch as the mind -as suggested in Light on Yoga- becomes more lucid. As suggested in Light on Yoga it is a hard asana to master. Why, because whereas most of the asanas require practice practice practicewith physical determination savasana requires practice practice practice with mental determination. warm regards Peter
