How often to practice? Can't Post

I have _Light on Yoga_ by Iyengar. I only recently noticed that it has asana courses in the appendix and have started following it. I am on the first week. So far I did it 3 days in a row. There is no information regarding how many times a week one should perform the asanas. Should I do them every day? On what does this depend?

Thanks

Congratulations on coming across Light on Yoga. It really is a classic. Practice everyday and keep practicing. It is as Iyengar advises in Light on Yoga that if you practice in the morning the asanas are harder because the body is stiff but it builds determination and the good effects on thinking carry through the day. At night before sleep the body is less stiff and tired but practice then aids in quality sleep. Read all of the advices in the book about cleanliness and when to take food... read then all. Don't rush. If you read the advices Iyengar offers you will find your understanding of the depth and significance of them will support them, and your asanas will work in harmony with all facets of life. ... You will find an advice about resting somewhat from practice during the 74th-78th weeks on Sundays in course 2 (see p. 475). My qualification for offering this support for Iyengar's advices comes from 29 years of practice. Life is about choices and with yoga ... well that is a good one.
warm regards
Peter

Maybe as the asanas become easier I will be more able to attempt to perform them twice daily. As it is it requires much effort for me (especially on my right side). But I am feeling better for it already.

Thanks Peter.

You will find that as you practice and follow the course Iyengar has suggested that more and more asanas are added and that either morning... or ... night is more managable than trying to do them all twice a day.
warm regards

personally, i try to get some sort of asana work done every day, even if it's just one or two poses.

You should do yoga regularly. Unless you don’t have any physical problem, in that doctor said to stop yoga.
