IYNAUS membership? Can't Post

Hi all,

Does anyone have a sense of whether membership in IYNAUS is primarily intended for teachers? Is it common for students to join as well, or is the membership comprised mostly of instructors?

Just curious about IYNAUS and Iyengar associations of that ilk - i am interested in doing i can to support the Iyengar method.

Emily, you can find info about IYNAUS membership at www.iynaus.org.

According to that website, "Membership is open to all persons who are willing to study, teach, disseminate and promote the art, science and philosophy of yoga according to the teachings of BKS Iyengar. Membership is a condition for holding a United States Iyengar Yoga Teaching Credential."

Its basic mission statement says that the organization "is committed to study, teach, disseminate and promote the art, science and philosophy of Yoga according to the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable."

It sounds to me like they would accept the support of committed students who do not necessarily intend to become certified teachers.
