OH MY, I NEED HELP! BADLY! Can't Post

Hi, I’m at my wits end and I really hope you have time to read and possibly answer this thread.

I am a 20-year-old male…I have practically no flexibility in anyway what so ever. I’ve been trying to improve my flexibility for over 6months straight and I’ve got practically nowhere.

My problem is that I have a really bad lower back curve, which is solely due to tight muscles. I’ve been stretching 1-2 times a week, with PNF type stretches…I’ve been stretching all the right muscles and have tried to relax as much as I can while stretching but there has been no change…

The reason why I need to get this corrected is because I am a really good basketball player and I will be able to play professionally if I can sort this out…This is why I plead with you to help me, I’ll be forever in your dept. If you’ve got any information that you think may help me, please write it.

Are there yoga teachers where you live?

Have you tried rolfing, myofascial release, or some other kind of deep tissue massage? These techniques help to release the internal tensions in the body, the adhesions between layers of muscle, and can help restore mobility and range of motion.

I think , yes you should try yoga. not only to gain your flexibility but to combine it with the basketball.

Stretching will definitely help you if you do it more consistently. Even if you have been stretching over 1 year but only 1 or 2 times per week will not get you far in terms of flexibility. You need to do it more on a daily basis, especially if you're training basketball at the elite level. 15 minutes of stretching per day will be more beneficial than stretching for 1 hour per week. There's a machine at most gyms called Precor Stretch Trainer http://www.precor.com/cpr_stt.php which I find really helpful for stretching upper/lower back, shoulder, hamstring, groins, outer/inner hips. If you try this everyday, your flexibility will definitely be improved much more rapidly, guaranteed. Of course yoga has much more to offer but this is a good start. Hope that helps.

I believe that you should see a good chiropractor and get an opinion, xrays if necessary and follow up for 1-3 months of therapy wether you believe it or not.

email to me if you need information on why you should try it, recommendations personal stories etc. Just try it

I think you better have the Xray first, see what the Dr. says about this problem. It maybe relatives to your daily life, (like how you sit and walk...). One thing is sure, Yoga is the very good choice for you! It will help you to improve the flexibility and discover your own body. Check if any yoga teacher near your there and have the classes around 3 times a week. It will help. Hope you can find your way!
