Advice request for scoliosis

Advice request for scoliosis	Can't Post

My daughter, 14 years old, is just diagnosed with idiophatic scoliosis. X-ray exam shows 41 degree curvature. Physician in the first visit had recommended surgery. What do you think? Is yoga helpful to avoid this surgery in this girl wit 41 degree curve? May be yoga helpful previous to surgery? May be yoga helpful after surgery? In this case, how many months after surgery?

In this Iyengar Yoga forum nobody has information and/or experiences on Scoliosis (back deformation) and Yoga. Is that correct?

Bobbie Fultz is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and has studied directly with B.K.S. Iyengar in Pune, India.
She teaches workshops on yoga and scoliosis.
Bobbie is at Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, Institute of Vedanta & Sanskrit , Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania
She would be an excellent person to contact.

a great book to look at is "back care basics' by mary pullig schatz, MD. it has a section on scoliosis that i use in my regualr practice.
