Re: c.f.s [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Rivi,

Yes it does! I have had CFIDS/CFS since 1988 and I teach Iyengar Yoga. It was difficult in the beginning because of the exhaustion and it took a while to discover "how" to work with the asanas, however, it can be done. One has to really pay great attention to the use of energy and recognize when enough is enough. Most people suggest the restorative postures for this condition. I would also if CFIDS/CFS is recently diagnosed. When you are more familiar with the energy levels, then you can also begin to work with asana using supports/props in a way that can be most helpful.
I had to get beyond "I can do it myself" attitude to relearn how to work. Standing poses reclining on the floor was suggested to me by Ramanand and I learned to use the chair a lot. I would recommend Sam Dworkis' book RECOVERY YOGA to you as it is well written for people that are unable to do what they once did. If you care to contact me, I'd be happy to correspond with you about CFIDS/CFS.
