Hi,

I remember reading that Guruji describes/described his own diet as being that of a normal Indian, implying that there were no special features, other than the generally known about avoidance of meat and alcohol.

If a more informed source reads this and knows better than yours truly, please offer a
correction and accept my apologies. :-)

Thanks, James.

Re: diets [In reply to] Can't Post

Since I began yoga I have become very aware of how certain foods make me feel. I can easily abstain from eating unhealthy foods now. I don't feel like many others I know who are on so called diets that "deprive" them of foods that they love and make them crazy. My favorite foods now (instead of cakes, sweets, and fatty foods) are those that are healthy to me and I celebrate eating pure, life giving foods. Occasionally I will eat something rich and unhealthy and it usually serves as a reminder of why I normally don't eat those things and also that I am not depriving myself.

Be cautious when fasting. It can overload the body as it releases toxins. It is best to go slow and first cleanse the body fully with herbs beginning with the colon, then kidneys, then liver and finally blood. In other words if you fast and these organs are not clean then you may overload them and make yourself sick. I speak from experience. I would advise that you get advice from an ayurvedic practitioner or naturapathic doctor before beginning. Good luck.

If you've got "Real Player" you can hear BKS discussing his diet (and why he gives no dietary recommendations) at:
