paranyama,when? Can't Post

adter 3 years of iyengar practice,i beguin pranayana, but have a timing problem:i use to pratice every morning 1h15mn of asanas then 10mn sharvasan;we are supposed to wait 30mn before pranayama;except if we do it at another time in the day (evening),but in such a case, i shall need to practice asanas again to "open" the body before pranayama exercise...what do you suggest for a good timing with asanas + pranayama?

pascal,

If you don't have the book "Light on Pranayama", then you should get it. In there Mr. Iyengar says that the best time to practice "is the early morning, preferably before sunrise". He also suggests "after sunset, when the air is cool and pleasant."

Mr. Iyengar states; "Never do asanas immediately after pranayama. There is no harm in practicing pranayama after asana. Pranayama, however, cannot be performed well after strenuous asana. It is advisable to practice both at different times."

Try to choose a time where you can practice the same time every day. And, don't be in a rush. Pranayama should come after asanas are mastered.

kind regards,
jerry
