Seeking information on how yoga may help skin problems. Does it impact on the thyroid to reduce acne?

From what I understand skin conditions are due to toxicity of the blood. Hormone imbalance is also due to toxicity. Yoga is a cleansing and balancing process so yes, it does help. If you have toxic blood this means that your organs (colon, liver, kidneys, etc.) are overwhelmed and your body is trying to eliminate it's waste through your skin. You may also want to look into internal cleansing using herbs to help to clean your organs and blood. I recommend you find an expert (naturopathic doctor) to work with in order to do this. Have a hair analysis (indicates toxic elements in your tissues) and a hormone saliva test (gives most accurate reading or hormone levels) to find out specifically what is out of order. They can help you target the problem with the appropriate herbs and supplements. And keep practicing yoga.

In Iyengar's "Yoga: The Path to Holistic Healing" there is a asana sequence specific to acne. It's an expensive book at $40, but it might be worth your while.
