breathing exercizes Can't Post

hi
could anyone help me i've been doing yoga for about 3 years now any really enjoy it,but i have ulcerative colitis and need some breathing exercizes to relieve the pain without using pain killers all the time.

Dear kev,

I think that breath is key. Keep focused on your breath throughout your Hatha practice. Practice at least once daily. Slow steady inhalation, slow steady exhalation during your practice. Also supported backbends (supta Baddakonasana, supta Virasana, cross bolsters, etc) will help. Hold the poses for a long time (build up to 15 to 30 minutes or longer). I have Crohn's, a close cousin to colitis and have found these things to be helpful.
