| "Recipes for Body & Soul" incorporates vegetarian Italian cooking classes with yoga and massage workshops, dance movement, guided art excursions and visits to medieval villages that are not often visited in Tuscany, like Volterra and Certaldo.
The program takes place at Podere Il Poggione, an 18th Century farmhouse villa nestled in the Tuscan hills, surrounded by stately Cypress trees, 300 olive trees, Chianti vines, persimmon and pomegranate trees and an extensive organic garden. It is a heavenly respite for rejuvenation, and is the perfect setting for people who want to immerse themselves in the culture of the Italian countryside while enjoying a holistic retreat.
The retreats run 8 days, and the prices are $2200 per person (add $245 for single room), which includes all classes, all meals, accommodations, transfers to and from train station in Pisa, excursions, entrance fees and all ground transportation. The only thing not included is airfare and personal expenses. The dates of the retreats are: June 30-July 7, July 28-August 4, August 4-August 11, August 11-August 18 and August 18-August 25.
Retreats are limited to 10 people.
Yoga classes are taught by Yvonne Costantino, who has trained with Bianca Strems Halfield in Hatha yoga, and with Mira Maheta and Patricia Walden in Iyengar yoga. She is listed in the official registry of teachers for BKS Iyengar yoga at www.lightonyogar.it. Cooking classes are taught by Patrizia Vecchia, a native of Tuscany. All instructors are completely fluent in English.
